ZHONGSHAN, China -- Unis said it has begun building a new factory here to accommodate its growing amusement game manufacturing business. Zhongshan, a prefecture-level city in the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong province, is a main region of amusement machine development.
The new complex, under construction on a separate plot from the company's present factory, also in Zhongshan, will encompass 427,000 square feet. The first phase of the project is targeted to be completed by December 2014.
Unis's new factory will double the size of its existing manufacturing plant, which employs about 400 people. The multi-building complex will bring together all of the company's manufacturing, R&D, marketing and administration departments.
The manufacturer was founded in 1993 as Universal Space Video Game, but now goes by the name Unis. It is among the amusement industry's premier contract manufacturers and licensors of original games. Its redemption novelties, kiddie rides, prize-dispensing machines and videogames are distributed in more than 50 countries. The company has launched more than 100 titles since its founding 20 years ago, and operates more than 30 family entertainment centers, called Unisland, in China.
Unis has a marketing office in Markham, ON, Canada, and recently opened a service office in Dallas. | SEE STORY
