CHIBA, Japan -- Japan's Tone Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and a local chapter of the Red Cross have partnered on a new beverage vending machine that allows patrons to contribute their change to the charity, according to Japan's The Mainichi Daily News.

Customers who are owed change after paying for their drinks can select buttons marked "10 yen" or "100 yen" to contribute that amount to the Red Cross.

All of the donations collected by the machines through September will go toward relief efforts for the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan. Plans call for deploying 100 of the white-and-red venders, which are emblazoned with the highly recognizable Red Cross logo.
