GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ -- Stephanie and Jim Dickinson have put a new twist on the games rental business with their Rockin Roller Mobile Arcade, a 34-ft.-long mobile trailer that houses nine coin-op videogame cabinets, two cranes, a photobooth and seven different prize-vending gumball novelties.
One of the videogame cabinets offers 70 titles from the golden age of coin-op video, including Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga and Centipede, among others.
Former mechanic Jim Dickinson and event planner Stephanie Dickinson rent the mobile arcade for parties, starting at 90 minutes for $285. Videogames are set on free play; the photobooth accepts bills and the gumball machines take coins. The operators add a fuel fee for events requiring 20 miles or more of travel.
The couple said they performed an extensive research into the industry and developed a detailed business plan before launching the venture.
