SPARTANBURG, SC -- Seeking to ride the wave of popularity for classic videogames, Denny's has licensed three timeless Atari games for its mobile app. Use of the games, reprogrammed with food themes, is designed to promote Denny's new Greatest Hits Remixed menu, which features a selection of the diner's traditional dishes with a new culinary spin.
For the iconic family diner's app, Asteroids, Centipede and Breakout have been remixed as "Hashteroids," "Centipup" and "Take-Out." Beyond their new names, the games feature such diner elements as flying hash browns and syrup bottle shooters. In Hashteroids, players navigate a condiment transport ship, and in Take-Out they break down a wall blocking orders.
"Our Greatest Hits Remixed menu celebrates a few of Denny's most beloved dishes by incorporating modern flavors for a fresh, new taste," said Frances Allen, chief brand officer for Denny's. "We're constantly looking to provide a fresh take on tradition for our guests, and this partnership with Atari allows us to extend the fun beyond our menu, and add a new spin on classic gameplay."
For Atari Inc., the Denny's app is another way to bring its classic content to all audiences. "Transforming our classic and beloved games into a retro, remixed promotion [is] a natural way to expose our brand to a new generation and to resonate with our longtime fans," said Atari chief executive Fred Chesnais.
Denny's mobile app is now available for iPhone and Android devices. Learn more at greatesthitsremixed.com.
