DUNDEE, IL – The Amusement and Music Operators Association said virtually all of its 44 directors will travel to Avon, CO, for the association's annual midyear board meeting from Sept. 21 to 24.
AMOA president Andy Shaffer of Shaffer Services (Columbus, OH) is hosting the meeting, which takes place at the Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain.
In addition to AMOA leaders and their spouses, the event will be attended by officials of the American Amusement Machine Association; AAMA chairman John Margold, AMI Entertainment Network Inc., will be at the front of the manufacturers' delegation.
Also participating will be AMOA-AAMA legislative counsel Michael Zolandz from SNR Denton and Amusement Expo trade show manager Brian Glasgow of W.T. Glasgow Inc.
The assembly will break out into 20 meetings over four days, including 19 AMOA leadership meetings plus an AMOA-AAMA Amusement Expo planning session. The next edition of the expo takes place at the Las Vegas (NV) Convention Center from March 20 to 22.
Separately, AMOA said it will stage an earlybird drawing on Sept. 24 for a pair of $500 cash prizes to support the Wayne E. Hesch Scholarship program.
To buy raffle tickets and qualify for the drawing, AMOA said individuals can contact Jamie Griffiths at firstname.lastname@example.org or (800) 937-2662.
Launched in 1985, the Hesch Scholarship program is funded primarily through the purchase of raffle tickets during the amusement industry's annual trade show.
In related news, AMOA's Expo Hesch Committee announced that a 2013 Dodge Charger will be awarded as the grand prize for the March 22 drawing at next year's Expo. The winner need not be present. All tickets purchased will be included in the final grand prize drawing.
