Cadrin Unveils 10-Select 'Xvend,' A Versatile Snack, Sundries Wallmount Merchandising Tool

LÉVIS, QC, Canada - Cadrin Machines, Inc. has announced the formal introduction of its "Xvend" multipurpose machine at the National Automatic Merchandising Association National Expo in Washington, DC.

Combining a compact form factor with advanced technology, the "Xvend" is expected to find wide application in roles requiring convenient access to all sorts of small, shelf-stable items where space is at a premium.

Measuring only 13 ins. deep, "Xvend" is 34 ins. high x 30 ins. wide, and offers 10 selections. It may be mounted on a wall, a countertop or a pedestal. Interchangeable spirals and adjustable shelves are available to configure the machine for all sorts of nonrefrigerated merchandise, from snacks through sundries to toys.

The new Cadrin vender embodies the state of the art in vending technology. Its control board is MDB compliant and VIDTS (DEX) capable, and will support an optional card reader and/or a printer. Photoelectric delivery sensors insure positive product delivery.

"The characteristics of the 'Xvend' allow it to be adapted to its environment, so that it may look the way you want it to look , and sell what you want it to sell , in any location and for any clientele," said president Robert Cadrin.

A key to this adaptability is the machine's graphic display capabilities. Its front panel can support a large transilluminated sign, and the manufacturer notes that the branding possibilities presented by "Xvend" will interest vendible product manufacturers seeking opportunities to increase the visibility of their company names or brands, while maximizing placement. And Cadrin can create a design suitable for operators and distributors who are not looking for a branded machine.

Cadrin points out that the illuminated display space can be used in several ways. It can accommodate advertising posters, so operators can sell space to advertisers in order to generate additional revenue. It also can be offered to location owners to increase the visibility of the establishment, and to promote location events.

Vendible product suppliers and operators can partner in conducting promotions publicized by frequently-changed front-panel graphics (easily produced with a computer printer). Or, of course, the space can be filled with a design complementing the overall style of the machine.

Cadrin considers the NAMA National Expo the ideal setting in which to launch its new machine, since all major potential client groups , operators, distributors and suppliers , are strongly represented. The "Xvend" will be demonstrated in Booth 1615 at the Expo.

Headquartered in L©vis (across the St. Lawrence River from Qu©bec City), Cadrin Machines began as a cigarette vending operation in the 1960s. The company began to design and manufacture its own compact, wall-mounted cigarette venders a decade ago, and its market for them widened to encompass all of North America. For the past several years, Cadrin has been working to develop more complete solutions to meet the industry's compact vending needs. Thus, "Xvend" has been conceived as the first in a series of innovative products from Cadrin Machines. "Our company is constantly evolving, as is our industry," said marketing director Jon Duquette.
