YORK, PA -- The Tri-State Automatic Merchandising Council will unite industry members from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware for two days of meetings, networking, social events and golf at its annual membership meeting. It's set for June 7 and 8 at the Heritage Hills Resort and Conference Center here.

The program kicks off at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 7 with a board of directors meeting. The Tri-State annual membership meeting will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

National Automatic Merchandising Association staff members will discuss federal and state initiatives affecting the vending and coffee service industries, including calorie disclosure requirements, ADA machine accessibility issues, Department of Energy proposals and sugar and snack taxes.

A panel discussion will bring operators up to date on how machine manufacturers are responding to the new ADA accessibility requirements.

Meeting-goers will have a chance to mix and mingle at Tri-State's annual membership reception and dinner banquet, which will begin at 6 p.m.

Friday is reserved for leisure or golf, beginning with an 8 a.m. tee time for the annual Harry Mowery Memorial Golf Tournament. An awards ceremony will climax the event.

A $115 per-person registration fee includes the meeting, reception and dinner. The fee for the golf outing is $75 a person. Registration must be completed by May 6.

Separately, Tri-State is seeking applications for its John Boyle Memorial Scholarship Fund, the winner of which will be announced at the June meeting. The recipient will receive full tuition, plus $250 to assist with travel expenses to the Executive Development Program, hosted by Michigan State University and NAMA Oct. 21-25, on the MSU E. Lansing campus. It is designed for senior-level executives, business managers and mid-level managers in the vending, coffee service, foodservice and related industries.

Applicants must have at least five years' involvement in the vending industry and hold positions as route supervisors or higher levels. They must be full-time employees of companies that have been members of Tri-State and NAMA for five years or more. They are also required to furnish recommendations from three current co-workers, along with one from a member of the Tri-State board of directors. Selection will be made based on application criteria and a 50-word essay.

The scholarship will cover tuition, materials, daily breakfast and lunch, plus two dinners. The winner pays travel expenses and hotel room costs. Applications must be received by May 4.

John Boyle, whose vending industry career spanned more than 40 years in various senior level sales, operations, and management positions, died in 2010. The scholarship honors his memory for his many accomplishments, service and dedication to the vending industry and its members. | READ MORE
