CHICAGO -- Cretors & Co. manufactures a line of caramelizers designed to expedite a concession operator’s diversification into caramel corn. The CMD line includes three combination cooker-mixers, all featuring stainless steel construction, digital temperature control with audible alarm, and one-switch operation.
The CMD25 has a 5-lb. capacity; the CMD50 handles 10 lbs. and the CMD100, 20 lbs. All three incorporate mixing baffles inside the cooker/mixer that gently apply the coating to the popcorn, eliminating the need for manual mixing. They may be used to cook and mix a variety of savory and caramel flavors.
Cretors CMD-series caramelizers mount directly onto a knockdown table or cooling bin for convenient setup. Standard and custom-built cooling bins are available, with optional integral blowers forcing cool air through the perforated tray bottom to speed production.
Founded in 1885, C. Cretors & Co. introduced the first patented steam-driven machine that popped corn in oil. In 1967, Cretors’ Food Processing Division introduced a patented continuous production line incorporating a hot air fluidized bed oven for high-volume popcorn production at rates of 80 to 5,000 lbs. per hour.
Over the years, the Foodservice Division’s offerings have expanded to include machines that produce and/or dispense cotton candy, nachos, caramel corn, and hot dogs, topping and dispensing equipment as well as warming and display cabinets.
