SEATTLE -- Avanti Markets, a provider of self-checkout micro markets, has hired Randy Overturf as president, a newly created position at the company.
Overturf has more than 25 years of business experience, and has spent a good amount of time in the self-service kiosk industry; he was vice-president of operations at Coinstar Inc. between 1995 and 2004. He also held senior-level management posts at Mediaport Entertainment Inc. and TIO Networks Inc. He is founder of RSO Consulting LLC (Bellevue, WA).
In his new position, Overturf will report to Avanti chief executive Jim Brinton.
Brinton purchased a majority stake in Avanti in July and has served as its interim president since then. The company is based in Seattle, where Brinton owns Evergreen Vending Service, a full-line vending business, and Vending Equipment Center, an equipment distributorship. His own vending operation includes about 90 Avanti installations.
With customers in almost all 50 states, Brinton said Avanti reached two milestones this summer: delivering its 500th kiosk in early July and achieving $1 million in sales across its operator network.
