LAS VEGAS — The newly reorganized Convenience Caterers and Food Manufacturers Association partnered with the National Automatic Merchandising Association, holding its annual Spring Conference in conjunction with NAMA’s Spring Expo here in April. CCFMA had a booth on the NAMA trade show floor and incorporated NAMA’s educational sessions into its conference agenda.
Jim Koppal of CS&T Wholesalers Inc. (Madison Heights, MI), CCFMA’s current president, said: “The enthusiasm and progress surrounding our association is better and more focused than ever.” This was evident, he said, with member participation up 50% at the 2007 Spring Conference.
CCFMA is comprised of mobile catering truck owner/operators, commissary owner/operators that service the mobile catering and vending industry, and food manufacturers. In recent years, the association has broadened its focus on serving small and large vending companies. Member commissary owners and food manufacturers have also diversified their businesses to include convenience stores and local schools and fundraisers, as well as party catering.
CCFMA reported that its members gave the Spring Conference an overall “excellent” rating and made valuable contacts with vending operators from throughout the country.
“The show was great and created the opportunity to come together and share ideas,” said Tom Williams of Williams Food Service (Louisville, KY).
With its primary function of providing industry support across the nation, CCFMA is focused on creating opportunities for its members to collaborate and implement new strategies to stay on the cutting edge of the mobile catering industry.
The “new” CCFMA publishes six newsletters per year, which provide members with up-to-date industry information and now feature a classified section. Some benefits of membership include reduced registration fees to the spring and fall conferences, networking opportunities with industry leaders and substantial savings using CCFMA’s buying consortium.
CCFMA is currently planning its Fall Conference to be held October 17-19 in Toronto, Canada, at the Double Tree hotel. The tentative agenda consists of two catering house tours, several educational meetings, a “state of the association” address and recreational events.
