PIERRE, SD -- The rules review committee of the South Dakota Legislature on May 10 unanimously issued final approval for the state lottery commission to operate slot-style games on video lottery terminals statewide.
Lawmakers said slot-type games do not violate South Dakota's laws or lottery provisions in the state constitution.
Last year more than 9,200 VLTs generated $106.5 million in taxes.
South Dakota voted in 1986 to amend the state constitution to permit VLT operations.
