OTTAWA, ON, Canada -- University of Ottawa students will have the convenience of paying for all transactions campuswide -- including vending purchases -- with a new all-in-one card rolling out this fall. They will also have the option of managing their accounts in French or English.
The MultiPlan MiFare-based online student account solution created by Toronto-based ITC Systems consolidates the university's current multiple card systems into a single bilingual card and can be used for snack and beverage vending, bookstore, dining, laundry, printing/copying and other e-commerce transactions.
The contactless card functions like a debit card, recording transactions in real time through an online account hosted by the university. Students can also check their account balances at any time through the Web. Administrators and merchants can also obtain activity reports online.
A bilingual solution was important to uOttawa, North America's largest bilingual university, with more than 55,000 students. The university is situated in Canada's capital city, where nearly half of the residents speak English and one-third speak French.
Founded in 1989, ITC Systems serves clients in the U.S. and Canada with card-payment solutions from its offices in St Louis and Toronto.
