USA Technologies Partners With Visa To Bring Olympics Sweepstakes To Vending

MALVERN, PA – USA Technologies and Visa have teamed up to give vending patrons a chance to enter the Visa Olympic Games Trip for Life Sweepstakes with each swipe of their Visa credit or debit cards.

Each time a patron pays for a purchase at a vending machine using USAT's ePort Connect service, he or she is automatically entered to win two tickets to the summer Olympic Games for life. Every four years, beginning in the summer of 2016, the winner will receive round trip airfare to the host city, deluxe hotel accommodations and tickets to Olympic sporting events.

Cashless terminals using USAT's ePort Connect service -- including the ePort device and third-party, certified cashless payment terminals on the ePort Connect service -- are now enabled on the back end to participate in the promotion. The Malvern, PA, technology company has promotional decals to help operators generate consumer awareness. The decals will only be allowed on eligible Coca-Cola branded machines and generic snack and beverage venders, since Coca-Cola, like Visa, is a sponsor of the Olympics. The promotion will run through Aug. 31, and a winner will be selected in a random drawing on Sept. 17.

With USAT's 155,000 connections, Visa teamed up with USAT to extend the 2012 Olympic Games Trip for Life to vending and other self-service markets. USA Technologies says it's the only cashless payments provider in the vending industry to offer this promotion to vending companies and soft-drink bottlers.

USAT vice-president of marketing Maeve McKenna Duska observed that more and more consumers are using their credit and debit cards to make purchases at vending machines and other self-service retail outlets every day.

"Visa teamed with USA Technologies to extend this promotion into vending and other self-service markets because they wanted to make the promotion accessible to consumers where they where they work and where they play," Duska said. "Our hope is that the sweepstakes, which offers a chance to win with each qualified Visa card purchase, will continue to raise awareness of credit and debit card acceptance in self-service markets, improve consumers' vending experience and, in turn, benefit our customers."
