AUGUST 17, 2006: Vistar Of New England Trade Show; MVA Combines Annual Events; NAMA New Member Promotion; Association Seeks Awards Nominations

VISTAR OF NEW ENGLAND TO HOST EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM AND TRADE SHOW

WINDSOR, CT — Vistar of New England will hold its annual trade show at the Best Western Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough, MA, on September 20 and 21. The product and equipment show will run from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday and from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday. Seminars will take place before the show on Wednesday. USA Technologies will present a session on cashless vending beginning at 2:00 PM and ending at 2:25 PM, with programming that addresses coffee pods and new pod equipment also offered during this time slot. Educational programs will follow these sessions, focusing on ice cream vending or school nutrition, from 2:30 PM to 2:55 PM. All four sessions will be repeated on Thursday after the show, from 12:00 PM to 12:25 PM and then from 12:30 PM to 12:55 PM, respectively. MASSACHUSETTS ASSN.’S ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND OUTING, MEETING SET FOR SEPTEMBER 13

TOPSFIELD, MA —The Massachusetts Vending Association will combine its annual meeting and Scholarship Fund Golf Outing. Both events will be held at the Sheraton Colonial Golf Club (Wakefield, MA) on September 13. The MVA Scholarship Fund is a tax-exempt public charity that is supported by voluntary contributions from association member companies, investment income from funded endowments and proceeds from the annual golf outing. This year’s outing will be a relaxing daylong event, according to MVA Scholarship Fund chairman Allan Z. Gilbert. The festivities will begin at 10:00 AM with a softball game that pits operators against suppliers. The golf classic follows at 1:00 PM. At 5:30 PM, a cocktail hour precedes a sumptuous Texas-style barbecue and the MVA annual membership meeting. For information on event registration, call Gilbert at (978) 887-9633.

 

NAMA NEW MEMBER PROMOTION ENDS SOON

CHICAGO — The August 31 deadline for the National Automatic Merchandising Association’s summer membership promotion is fast approaching. Members of the vending, coffee service and on-site foodservice industry that join NAMA by this date will receive $1,600 in discounts and free products.

 

Included in the promotion are a Tuffronts kit in standard black, a 10% discount on selected vending machines from Vendor’s Equipment, a $100 rebate for the CT3 Vending Tester PRO coin changer/bill validator tester from SEM Inc. and three months of wireless remote monitoring from inOne Technology. Other incentives include five cases of sandwich products from Pierre Foods, 24 units of Ruger Wafers from Sherwood Brands, one free case of low-fat blueberry muffins from Otis Spunkmeyer and a free case of Toastchee peanut butter or cheese crackers from Lance Inc. Additionally, new members will receive five cases of any frozen Deli Express product, a choice from four coffee product offers given by Boston’s Best Coffee, a free case of animal crackers or chocolate chip cookies from Biscomerica and two cases of ultra premium ice cream cups, with an eight-case purchase, from Mini Melts.

 

New members also are entered to win a fully stocked Pringles vending machine from Proctor & Gamble, valued at $2,300, and will receive benefits extended to existing NAMA members such as access to a gas savings program, hotel discounts and automotive services. NAMA CALLS FOR INDUSTRY AWARD NOMINATIONS

CHICAGO — Nominations for the seventh annual National Automatic Merchandising Association Industry Awards program are due by September 1, reports Dean Gilland, NCE, NAMA’s vice-president of membership and coffee services. The awards, which recognize deserving individuals and companies for professional achievements in vending, OCS and foodservice, will be presented at the Industry Awards Banquet during the NAMA National Expo in Orlando in October. “Don’t let the deadline pass. Send in your nomination for individuals and companies who consistently demonstrate the highest standards of professional excellence,” Gilland said. “They deserve recognition for their dedication and commitment to our industry, which in the end benefits us all.”

 

Nomination forms can be obtained online at http://www.vending.org/industry_awards/index.php?page=main, and can be emailed to sgraf@vending.org or sent by fax to Dean Gilland at (312) 704-4140. Selections can be made in one, several or all categories. Final selections will be decided by a committee, past award winners and industry personnel.

 

Vending categories are Operator of the Year Award (Golden Coin) and Allied Member of the Year Award. In coffee service, selections can be made for the Mike Savoie Operator of the Year Award and Allied Member of the Year Award. Nominations are open to all trade members for the Industry Person of the Year Award.
