LOS ANGELES -- Aguavida Premium Water is targeting health-focused, eco-minded customers with its new alkaline drinking water vending machine. The vender filters the water in nine stages, from reverse osmosis to the use of natural filtration media that bring minerals back to the water, increasing its pH to an alkaline level.
Alkaline water is prized by many of today's consumers for its health benefits. It reportedly balances the body's pH and acts as an antioxidant, and its rapid absorption by the body is due to its small molecular clusters.
Aguavida customers fill their own containers at the machine -- from 1 liter to 5 gallons, eliminating the waste associated with packaged water.
"Nowadays people, especially young people, are concerned about their health as well as the environment," said Andrea Ardila, president of Aguavida Premium Water. "This target market is always looking for high-quality products and at the same time looking to buy local."
The machines stand 6.5-ft. tall, 2.6-ft. wide and 2.2-ft. deep. and draw attention with contemporary branding. They are certified by the National Automatic Merchandising Association.
The company reports that several machines are in operation in the Los Angeles area in "green" and organic supermarkets.
