Envirobank, vending SYDNEY, Australia -- Vending machines in Australia's most populous city are making it easy and fun for people to recycle and rewarding them for their efforts.

The city of Sydney has placed the Envirobank reverse vending machines in its Chinatown district and other high foot traffic areas. People who dispose of empty cans or bottles in the machines are rewarded by the city with food truck vouchers, bus passes and a chance to win tickets to the city's world-famous New Year's Eve party.

Envirobank crushes materials when they're inserted, and can reportedly hold up to 3,000 containers.

If the machines prove successful, Sydney plans to install them citywide, and possibly across the country.
