Canteen Sales Veteran John Scallion Dies

SYRACUSE, NY -- John Scallion, who retired from Compass Group's Canteen Vending after a 42-year sales career, died on Feb. 28. He was 83.

Scallion graduated from Le Moyne College (Syracuse), a Jesuit institution, where he played basketball. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Meade in Maryland, where he continued to play basketball for the military base's team.

Scallion was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Mary, and daughter Susan Scallion Ramsay, both of whom died in 2010.
