POMONA, CA -- F-D-S Manufacturing Co. has created a clear plastic clamshell container the size and shape of a 12-fl.oz. can or bottle that vends fresh fruit from a cold drink vending machine.
The container is reportedly supplied flat and can be rolled around fruit like grapes and berries and snapped closed, according to The Produce News.
F-D-S has trademarked the name "Vend-D-Pack" for the new vendible container. The Corona, CA, manufacturer of Industrial and Agricultural Packaging already manufactures traditional clamshell containers used for fresh fruit and other products under the brand name Ven-T-Pak.
The company plans to add 12-, 16- and 20-oz. sizes, The Produce News reported.
