FORT WAYNE, IN -- Longtime vending industry professionals and advocates Jeff Snyder of Snyder Food Service and Jon Ford of All State Manufacturing are making runs for separate seats in the Illinois State Senate.
With the election fast approaching on May 6, Snyder, who considers himself a conservative, is engaging a team of campaign professionals, family, friends and neighbors to help get the word out to run his race for a seat in Indiana's Senate District 15.
Snyder said his involvement with the Indiana Vending Council, as a member, board member and president, led to his interest in running.
"I'm a businessman, not a career politician and I want to try to fix some things that are totally not right," said Snyder, pointing to tax, business and welfare reform as key issues. "Most importantly, the vending industry services all types of businesses across the state giving me a clear view of what needs to improve in the political process to better support business growth and jobs."
Separately, Jon Ford of All State Manufacturing is a candidate for Indiana's Senate District 38. Ford, a member of the Indiana Vending Council, says his strong record of leadership, coalition building and getting results at All State Manufacturing will serve him well in the State Senate.
"As a third generation manufacturer I understand the needs of manufacturers and small business owners," he continued. "If I am elected to the State Senate, I would be one of the very few people in the state house that understands what it takes to produce a product, manage a P&L and to distribute a product across the country. Currently there is not one manufacturer in the State Senate."
Ford, a current member of the Honey Creek Township Board, has an extensive record of public service on several community non-profits. He has served as chairman of the Indiana Arts Commission, president of the Swope Art Museum and president of the Indiana Leadership Forum. He has also served on the board of directors for the Indiana Manufacturer's Association, Leadership Wabash Valley and the Vigo County Youth Soccer Association.
