PRINCETON, NJ -- Heartland Payment Systems has acquired School-Link Technologies Inc., a privately held provider of K-12 school nutrition and point-of-sale solutions. The payment processor made the purchase through its Heartland School Solutions division. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The deal is the fourth acquisition of a K-12 service provider that Heartland has made over the past 10 months. It also bought the companies LunchBox, Comalex Inc. and MySchoolBucks.com, a website where parents can pay for their children's school meals.
"Heartland's strategic acquisition of these premier K-12 service providers positions us as the market leader and will have a meaningful impact on our future growth," said Heartland chairman and chief executive Bob Carr. "Heartland School Solutions provides a single, powerful suite of payment processing solutions to help take K-12 school nutrition programs to the next level of ease of use and innovation."
Heartland Payment Systems is the fifth-largest payments processor in the U.S. It processes credit, debit and prepaid cards, and provides loyalty programs and payroll management, to more than 250,000 businesses.
