TORONTO -- A vending machine that dispensed a special-edition Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels in exchange for a tweet drew crowds at the recent Canadian International Auto Show here last month.
Chevrolet Canada teamed up with marketing firm TrojanOne and Hot Wheels to develop the Twitter-activated "Camaro-matic Trending Machine."
Showgoers first had to follow the @HotWheelsCanada account, enable their location services and then send a tweet to the account with the hashtag #ChevyCIAS to receive one of two exclusive 2013 Hot Wheels Camaro diecasts.
Adweek reported that 1,500 guests tweeted in front of the vending machine during the 10-day event, and the Hot Wheels account more than tripled its Twitter followers, from 1,200 to 3,800.
