SALT LAKE CITY -- OK Manufacturing has introduced a pinball-themed bulk vender called Splat Ball. The skill-based machine challenges players to a simplified game of pinball in which they can receive either a winner-every-time 1" prize or piece of ball gum, or an additional larger 2" capsuled prize.
The new game, which measures only 21.15" wide x 44" deep, incorporates a full complement of electronic sound effects, music and lighting. Shipping with a 50¢ coin mech as standard equipment, the game was designed to deliver fast return on investment.
"I think it's a great value. It provides fun gameplay without any learning curve," said OK's Heidi Olsen-Hughey. "Even young players know what to do. And the winner-every-time aspect is important if you want to capture the young market."
The vending machine ships with standard Splat Ball graphics, but custom styles for specific locations or the operator's brand are also available. "If an operator wants to do a custom playfield, we can overlay those graphics, along with custom exterior graphics, to brand the machine," Olsen-Hughey explained. "An operator can brand Splat Ball for a theme park or chain restaurant. Offering a custom machine really does help you get locations, and you can always 're-graphic' the machine later; it's not that expensive."
Olsen-Hughey reported that OK has become expert in supplying custom graphics for its machines. The company currently runs its own in-house graphics department for bulk vending customers.
