RICHMOND, VA -- Performance Food Group has announced the appointment of Jim Spatola as senior vice-president of procurement and Jeff Williamson as senior vice-president of operations, both newly created posts. They will report to PFG president and chief executive George Holm.
Spatola joined Vistar Corp. (now a division of PFG) in 2005 after many years' service with Aramark (Philadelphia). He had begun his career as a commission salesman for Spatola-Thompson, a grocery and frozen food distributor in Philadelphia. In his new post, he will oversee procurement, with initial emphasis on improving processes to better serve customers and enhance PFG's competitive position and profitability. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Villanova University (Radnor Twp., PA).
Williamson came to PFG as director of warehouse methods and industrial engineering in 2003, after working with U.S. Foods. In 2008 he advanced to senior vice-president of operations for Performance Foodservice. He will now oversee PFG's facilities and construction, warehouse functions, inbound logistics and outbound transportation. He earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois (Urbana).
Peformance Food Group delivers more than 98,000 nationally branded and proprietary food and food-related products through its family of foodservice distributors, including Vistar, Performance Foodservice-Roma and PFG Customized Distribution. It operates 67 distribution centers and 13 Merchant's Mart sites in the United States.
