COLUMBUS, OH -- The state Legislature should either pass a law to permit sweepstakes videogames with cash prizes or clearly and decisively outlaw them, Columbus Mayor Thomas Perciak testified on June 14 before the House of Representatives.

Perciak said some towns have declared them to be illegal gambling devices while others have issued licenses and collected fees from their operators. Still others have left sweepstakes videogames in a "tolerated" gray area, he said.

State Attorney General Mike DeWine is working with two state representatives to draft a new law to regulate Internet sweepstakes videogames and cafés in the Buckeye State. | SEE STORY
