OAKVILLE, ON, Canada – Canadian donut chain Tim Hortons announced a deal with Kraft Foods to sell its coffee in T Discs for Kraft's Tassimo single-cup beverage system in Canada and the U.S.
T Discs of Tim Hortons premium blend coffee, including decaf and latte, will be sold exclusively through Tim Hortons restaurants and online at timhortons.com and tassimodirect.com beginning October.
With the addition of Tim Hortons coffees, Tassimo includes more than 50 offerings including lattes and cappuccinos made with real liquid milk creamer, as well as hot chocolates, teas, mochas and espressos.
T Discs feature a barcode containing the exact brewing instructions for each beverage. The brewer reads the barcode and then initiates the required water temperature, water quantity and brew time.
"Kraft Foods is already a longtime strategic foodservice partner of Tim Hortons and their Tassimo brand is a high quality product we are excited to bring into our restaurants," said Paul House, executive chairman, chief executive and president of Tim Hortons. "We look forward to entering this rapidly growing market and making home brewing even more convenient for Tim Hortons coffee fans."
Tim Hortons serves about two billion cups of coffee annually in North America. It has more than 4,000 restaurants systemwide, 700 of which are in the U.S.
