IAAPA Plans Wide-Reaching Educational Program For Its November Expo In Orlando

ORLANDO, FL -- The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions is planning more than 85 educational seminars, luncheons and roundtable discussions, along with behind-the-scenes tours, daylong institutes and half-day symposiums. The educational program takes place during the IAAPA Attractions Expo at the Orange County Convention Center here from Nov. 12 to 16.

A targeted learning track will address family entertainment centers. Daylong institutes will offer development programs on select functions of attractions management and FEC operations, said IAAPA.

From entertainment to facility operations, finance to information technology, foodservice to games, the subject matter will be wide reaching. Hot topics, according to IAAPA, include social media, integrated marketing, increasing revenue, training, guest engagement and industry trends.

New this year are half-day symposiums on inflatables and incident management. The two symposiums take place Friday, Nov. 16.

The inflatables program is for attractions operators; topics include risk management and indoor operations. There will also be an operators' roundtable.

The incident management program allows participants to experience decision-making in a dynamic setting and learn best practices for command structures, critical response teams and maintaining essential business operations. The event will lead participants through a variety of scenarios and, by working in small groups, participants will explore key elements and factors to consider in each scenario.

Both symposiums are part of the General Interest Education Program; however, due to space considerations, IAAPA recommends advance registration to reserve a seat. The program costs $329 for nonmembers, but is free to IAAPA members with expo registration.

IAAPA offers guided show floor tours in six product categories: theming and design; museum:, water park; participatory play; entertainment and show production; and inflatables. Trade tourists will be taken to exhibiting suppliers in these groups to learn more about products and services that fall within their scope. There will also be a guided tour for first-time show visitors. Preregistration is required.
