HERNDON, VA -- The Tri-State Automatic Merchandising Council (representing Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware) and the Maryland-DC Vending Association will hold a membership meeting on May 20 and 21. The combined conference will take place at the Seaview Hotel in Galloway, NJ, on the Jersey Shore.
The Tri-State board of directors will convene on Wednesday, May 19, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the combined board meeting for both vending associations is scheduled for Thursday, May 20, at 8 a.m.
On Thursday, from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the MD-DC trade group will hold its annual membership meeting. Association leaders and lobbyists will present an overview of the 2010 legislative session and political climate, issues facing the states and what the association is doing to protect operators' interests. The MD-DC board of directors meeting will follow from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Tri-State association will wrap up its business with its annual membership meeting and elections from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Addressing the membership of both trade groups at 3:30 p.m., NAMA president and chief executive Rich Geerdes will present an update on national legislative trends and NAMA programs and services. Industry consultant Mark Manney of Loss Prevention Results (Wake Forest, NC) will then discuss how the vending and foodservice industry deals with internal theft, fraud and business abuse, and will offer strategies for doing so more effectively.
The agenda shifts from business to pleasure with a membership reception from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a dinner banquet.
On Friday morning, the membership golf tournament gets off to a shotgun start at 8 a.m. at the world-renowned Pines course located on the Seaview property. Awards will be presented at 1 p.m.
