SPRINGFIELD, IL -- The Illinois Gaming Board said it's "a few weeks behind" its launch schedule for the state's video lottery program, according to a Sept. 2 story in The Northwest Herald.

As previously reported by Vending Times, IGB officials said in early August that they expected to activate VLT machines by Labor Day, following a two-week test of VLTs and the central computer system in five separate locations around the state. | SEE STORY

The Herald quoted IGB's Gene O'Shea as saying, "We are a little bit behind, but not by much. We were hoping to have some of the machines up and running by Labor Day. Once we get the testing done, then we'll move forward with it."

The two-week test apparently has not yet begun.
