Regional Golden Tee LIVE Contests Kick Off

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Incredible Technologies on June 1 launched the 2007 Golden Tee LIVE Regional Championships. Free to operators, participation in the largest Golden Tee tournament to date is available nationwide through three regional events (Southeast, Midwest and West). For the first time, operators and locations can also win money if they sponsor winning players.

Players in each regional contest must play at least 50 games over six weeks to qualify for entry in one of the three $25,000 final competitions. IT said thousands of players qualified last year, generating strong operator earnings.

Extensive promotions include a text message at the start of every game that alerts players to the tournament. In addition, IT sent more than 20,000 posters to Golden Tee LIVE operators along with “Promo Pocket” inserts and an optional AdWiz CD for every game.

A PR campaign targeting mainstream television, magazines and newspapers will be coordinated through IT’s press agency. The game’s website, goldentee.com, serves as the tournament’s online hub.

IT’s slogan for the regionals – “Every Player. Every Game. Every Location.” – highlights the fact that all connected cabinets nationwide are tournament-capable.

These tournaments are designed to appeal to casual players and drive repeat play, the company explained. IT marketing vice-president Scott Morrison said the 2006 regionals noticeably boosted operator collections during the historically slow summer period, and the 2007 edition is expected to do likewise. Some players may play more than 1,000 games during the qualifying period, he forecasted.

In addition to the $25,000 prize for each regional tournament, the 2007 tournament structure includes a Pub Champ competition, held in local bars, for an additional $1,000 prize in each participating venue. Pub Champs must play all 50 of their online qualifying games on one Golden Tee LIVE machine in their favorite location. Each machine will have a special Pub Champ leader board that lists the players with the best 50-game scoring average on that machine. The top player on each machine will represent their bar as a Pub Champ at the finals and compete in an exclusive closest-to-the-pin contest for a top prize of $1,000.

New this year, if the live final Pub Champ winner is sporting their pub’s official shirt or jersey, they win a Pub Pride Bonus that includes a $200 Golden Tee LIVE Gift Card for themselves, a $400 Cash bonus for the pub’s owner, and a bonus $400 IT Bucks for the location’s amusement operator.

Regional finals will lead to the Team USA Shootout, at which the top 50 qualifiers in each region will compete to fill three spots on Team USA.
