Sysco Plans Leadership After Completion Of Merger With US Foods

HOUSTON -- Sysco Corp. has announced the management team that is being formed to lead the company upon completion of its proposed merger with US Foods (Rosemont, IL). The Sysco board of directors is expected to appoint eight officers who will report to president and chief executive Bill DeLaney.

Tom Bené will lead all of Sysco's domestic and international operations as executive vice-president and chief commercial officer.

Scott Charlton will become senior vice-president of distribution services, in charge of end-to-end supply chain operations including warehousing, inbound and outbound transportation, and replenishment.

Chris Kreidler is tapped as executive vice-president, chief financial officer and merger integration leader. He will direct the finance function (treasury, accounting, and investor relations) and the activities required to integrate Sysco and US Foods.

Russell Libby is designated executive vice-president of corporate affairs and chief legal officer, and also will serve as corporate secretary. He will be in charge of corporate affairs, including legal, government relations and communications, business development, enterprise risk management, compliance, corporate social responsibility, and workplace safety.

Paul Moskowitz is nominated as senior vice-president of human resources, responsible for talent acquisition and management, payroll, and labor relations.

Pietro Satriano will become chief merchandising officer, a post he holds at US Foods. He will oversee merchandising and marketing, which includes product development and innovation, food safety, and quality assurance.

Stuart Schuette is slated to become chief operating officer for Sysco; he now holds that position at US Foods. He will be in charge of sales to corporate-managed customers, including restaurants, healthcare, travel and leisure operations, and foodservice management. Schuette also will oversee the development and implementation of a sales development and strategy function for the business, and will collaborate with Bené to effectively transition US Foods' operations and customer base to Sysco.

Wayne Shurts is appointed executive vice-president and chief technology officer. He will direct Sysco's business technology, including development of the systems needed to integrate Sysco and US Foods. He also will continue to oversee deployment of Sysco's enterprise platform, and will develop additional customer-facing business solutions.

Sysco reported that the Federal Trade Commission's review of the proposed merger is proceeding as expected. Sysco expects the transaction to be consummated before the end of the year.
