CHICAGO -- A new tool available to National Automatic Merchandising Association members makes it easier to comply with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Smart Snacks in School nutrition standards taking effect July 1.
"Now that there is one national set of vending standards, the Alliance and USDA are working together to provide resources and tools, including product evaluation," said Roni Moore, NAMA's vice-president of marketing and communications.
Moore said the new resource will make the process more efficient, both for operators seeking compliant products and suppliers interested in showcasing their offerings.
"The Alliance Product Navigator can help both vendors and schools as a one-stop shop resource for implementing Smart Snacks in School," said Laura Hatch, National Outreach Advisor for the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
