LAS VEGAS -- The new Amusement Expo drew 1,830 registered participants to the Las Vegas Convention Center for a three-day run from March 10 to 12. It was the first-ever national coin-op trade show cosponsored by the American Amusement Machine Association and Amusement and Music Operators Association, both based in Chicago. The show was collocated with Fun Expo, which covers the FEC trade.
The new show is managed by W.T. Glasgow Inc. (Orland Park, IL), which has long managed AAMA's Amusement Showcase International, AMOA International Expo and Fun Expo, which is now owned by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.
Amusement Expo registration numbers were up slightly compared with last spring's ASI, which counted 1,710 participants. The number of buyers was also up. Glasgow reported 762 buyers compared with 593 a year ago at ASI, which also took place in Las Vegas. There were 87 exhibitors in 295 booths at Amusement Expo, compared with 79 in 231 booths at the 2009 ASI.
Fun Expo's 2010 visitor and exhibitor numbers were down from last year's. Total attendance dropped to 674 from 1,105. There were 304 registered buyers this year compared with 520 in 2009, and 53 exhibitors in 80 booths compared with 77 in 125 booths last year.
