Hershey, Brookside Foods, vending machine business
HERSHEY, PA -- The Hershey Co. said on Thursday that it has agreed to purchase Canadian confectionery company Brookside Foods Ltd. for an undisclosed sum.
Brookside has a patented formula for making chocolate-covered fruit juice pieces. It also makes traditional chocolate-covered nuts and dried fruit. The Brookside product line is primarily sold in the U.S. and Canada in a take home resealable package. Its confections are made at two facilities in British Columbia and Quebec.
Annual net sales of the Abbotsford, BC-based business are approximately $83.3 million. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval, customary closing adjustments and Brookside shareholder approval.
