Smartphone App Lets Compass Group Dining Customers Order Ahead

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Compass Group North America has launched a mobile ordering service that allows customers to order and pay for their meal using their smartphones.

Zipthru Mobile users can browse through menu selections, choose a pickup time and prepay in minutes using their smartphone. They can also use a PC or tablet computer.

Behind the scenes, Zipthru Mobile simplifies operations with built-in order management tools that streamline and control production and delivery processes.

The mobile service was unveiled at Compass Group's BYOB burger retail concept at Connecticut's Quinnipiac University this school year. It was also introduced at the New York Stock Exchange, where customers can custom-order items from the cafeteria's grill, deli, pizza and hot entrée stations.

The contract foodservice giant said it plans to extend the mobile ordering service to other business and industry sites and college and university campuses this fall.
