MANKATO, MN -- Harlow Norberg of C&N Sales Co. Inc., a 90-year old music and games operation here, died on Oct. 30. The cause was cancer. He was 79.

Norberg was born in 1932 in St. Peter, MN. After graduating from Mankato High School in 1950, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean conflict. After completing his tour in 1954, he returned to Mankato and rejoined C&N Sales, his family's business. Norberg began his long career at C&N Sales as an elementary school student and did not fully retire until he was 78. He served as C&N's vice-president, president and chairman, and always was active in industry affairs. In 1976, he was elected president of the Minnesota Operators of Music and Amusements, and was the first operator ever elected to serve in MOMA's top post for two terms.

C&N Sales runs the nation's largest league system played on coin-operated pool tables and dartboards. The company's league program is conducted in more than 400 taverns in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa and draws some 10,000 league players annually.

In his free time, the veteran operator enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling, and would often visit locations to participate with friends in one of C&N's pool or dart matches. He was a longtime member of Ducks Unlimited, the VFW and St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and was a supporter of community and charitable organizations.

Harlow Norberg is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marlene; three daughters, Tami Paulsen, Sheri Lund and Shani Graham, and their husbands Bryan, Robert and James; son Timothy and his wife Marilyn; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Irene Sturm and Beverly Todd.
