OZARK, MO -- The Mid-America Automatic Merchandising Association, which represents vending and OCS operators in Missouri and Kansas, hosted Congressman Billy Long (R-MO) at its annual meeting here on Saturday, June 8. The lawmaker's visit was part of a stepped up effort by the National Automatic Merchandising Association's government affairs team to educate elected officials on the industry.

"I was delighted to meet with hard-working men and women in the vending industry of Missouri, who strive each and every day to provide the best products for their customers," Long said. "I enjoyed the opportunity to learn about their innovations for their work. I came to Washington as a small-business owner. If there is one thing I learned by being in business for over 30 years, it is that the government can't create jobs, only the private sector can. Small businesses are the engine that drives our nation's economy."

MAMA president Patrick Murphy, Kenney Amusement & Vending Co. (Springfield, MO) said the visit provided a valuable opportunity for the group to educate the Congressman on the industry and how it provides vital products to consumers through vending and office coffee service.
