RICHMOND, VA -- Performance Food Group, Vistar's parent company, has acquired Ledyard Co., a broadline foodservice distributor based in Santa Cruz, CA.
Ledyard Co. was established in 1929 as a distributor of food, equipment and supplies to restaurants and institutions in central and northern California. The company provides frozen and refrigerated foods, produce and dairy, grocery, janitorial and chemical products, smallwares and tabletop items. It employs some 100 associates.
Ledyard will become one of PFG's broadline distribution operating companies, under the name Performance Foodservice - Ledyard.
PFG was formed in 1987 by combining several broadline and customized distributors. In 2008, it merged with Vistar, a leading distributor to vending, retail, theater and concession operators. It now serves more than 115,000 customers through its 65 distribution centers and 12 Merchant's Mart locations in the United States.
