SPRINGFIELD, IL -- Incredible Technologies' Daniel Schrementi said licensed manufacturers are being told that the launch of the Illinois video lottery market "could be as soon as six months and as long as two years, or even worse." The remark was quoted recently by Time Out Chicago.
Illinois Gaming Board spokesman Gene O'Shea said he had "no idea" when the VLT market will go online. The IGB staff is short-handed and "swamped" as it seeks to complete licensing of VLT businesses and select a vendor for the central computer system that will administer the video lottery system, he said.
Incredible Technologies is among the VLT manufacturers that have been issued video gaming licenses. To date, the gaming board has licensed seven manufacturers, 12 distributors and two suppliers, but has not yet licensed any operators or locations. | SEE STORY
