MONTGOMERY, AL -- After a full week of deliberations, the jury came in on Thursday, Aug. 11, for the massive bribery trial of the "Alabama Bingo Nine" -- and the prosecution failed to get a single conviction.
Operator Milton McGregor, owner of the Victoryland resort and bingo hall in Shorter, AL, was found not guilty of one bribery charge and certain fraud charges. The jury deadlocked on several other charges of bribery, fraud and conspiracy in McGregor's case.
Also found not guilty, or freed by a hung jury, were the eight remaining defendants. They included two sitting state senators and some former state senators. | SEE STORY
