KANSAS CITY, MO -- Partners Promoting Darts welcomed more than 500 darters who took part in 2,000 events at the second annual Pearl Vodka Darts Tournament of Champions, held Oct. 19-23 at the KCI-Expo Center here. This year's Pearl Vodka soft-tip electronic darting event saw a 45% increase in the number of competitors compared with 2012's inaugural event, organizers reported.
More than $350,000 was paid out to winners. Notable were the large amounts that went to female players, one of whom was the top prizewinner. Tricia Pluff (St. Paul MN) won almost $13,000; three more players won over $10,000 each. Click here to see winners and sponsoring operating companies.

Partners Promoting Darts is an organization of operators promoting the sport of soft-tip darts through sanctioned bar tournaments and local leagues. The program accommodates all skill levels, as well as any local league and tournament formats. To ensure fair competition, PPD compiles and processes tournament stats. Its membership is exclusive to one vendor in each area, which allows them to sanction their own local leagues and to uphold rules that prevent sandbagging and cheating.
In addition to Pearl Vodka, sponsors of the Tournament of Champions, year-round PPD events, include Arachnid, L-Style and Horizon Darts.
Since the inaugural tournament in 2012, PPD has added more than a dozen operators in its network. They are Troy Vending (Phoenix), American Amusement Arcades (Minneapolis), Rich & Junnie's Vending (Dubuque, IA), C&M Darts (Longwood FL), Midwest Coin Concepts (Waite Park MN), Advanced Coin Machine Co. (Goodrich MI), Schmitz Amusement (Two Rivers WI), CAP Amusement (Rochester NY), B&K Amusements (Junction City KS), Allied Games (Loves Park IL), Kinney Amusement (Springfield MO), BMW Billiards (Fort Collins CO), H. Lazar & Son (Pittsburgh), Racine Amusement (Racine WI), Games Unlimited (Milbank, SD) and Sams Amusement (Kenosha, WI).
At least 35 PPD operating companies are expect to participate in 2014's Pearl Vodka Darts Tournament of Champions. Additionally, the player base has grown to three times the size since the 2012 event.
Partners Promoting Darts and the Tournament of Champions were both conceived by the Club Lucky Group, a nationwide alliance of amusement operators. While many of the program's participants are Club Lucky members, and some are not, PPD and its tournaments operate independently.
