HOUSTON -- The Texas Merchandise Vending Association will hold its 59th annual conference from July 29 to 31 (Thursday-Saturday) at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel in Ft. Worth. Oklahoma Vending Association and Arkansas Vending Council members are also welcome to attend.

Thursday's agenda is devoted to recreation. A golf tournament begins at 1:30 p.m. at the nearby Waterchase Golf Course and an evening reception will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Business gets under way on Friday at 8 a.m. with the annual membership meeting. An educational program follows, and will include presentations on OCS, healthcare reform effects on the vending industry and financial management. Lunch will be served at noon.

Ladies' events include a Friday morning breakfast with door prizes, followed by a trip to the Ft. Worth Stockyards for a cattle drive, shopping and lunch.

Conference-goers reconvene at 6 p.m. for a fun-filled evening that begins with dinner, followed by a standup comedy show. The theme for the evening will be "Denim and Diamonds"; those attending are encouraged to get into the spirit by wearing jeans, boots and "bling."

Learning opportunities resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. with roundtable discussions on a variety of topics, including wireless and cashless technology, profiting from pure water and OCS, green initiatives, insurance and employee benefits, and pre-employment screening and drug testing. The conference will adjourn at noon.

The registration fee is $225 per couple and $175 for individuals. The greens fee for golfers, which includes lunch, is $90. Registration forms are available by calling (713) 772-7946 or emailing p.hord@sbcglobal.net. A discounted room rate of $187 per night can be secured through June 28 by calling the hotel at (817) 870-1000. Rooms at this rate can also be booked online by entering "TMVA" as the password.
