CORONA, CA -- AVT Inc. said it has retained a patent-litigation law firm to begin enforcing its patent on the wireless control of multiple vending machines.
AVT's Patent No. 8,191,779 was upheld in an appeals court last spring and found enforceable by the U.S. Patent Office, according to the manufacturer. It covers 19 uses, including cashless transactions conducted by a vending machine through a wireless system. | SEE STORY
The Corona, CA-based vending technology company expects enforcement of its patent to be "a major revenue driver within the next 24 months and beyond."
AVT's newly appointed counsel, One LLP, has handled patent litigation for large corporations and organizations, including Blockbuster, Conexant, Meade Instruments and the U.S. Navy.
"Wireless control of machines is now built into virtually every modern automated retailing and vending system, which provides AVT with licensing opportunities on a grand scale," AVT said. "Not only are there hundreds of thousands of these types of machines already in the field, but there are many more to come."
