SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- Apriva reported that its wireless point-of-sale gateway processed more than $1.86 billion in payments transactions during the first quarter of 2012, climbing nearly 22% over the same period in 2011.
Apriva's wireless products are used in retail and vending, as well as in mobile environments, turning phones into payment terminals. Apriva president Paul Coppinger said "business is brisk" for its Apriva Vend unattended payments solution and AprivaPay mobile payment application.
Apriva Vend's end-to-end cashless vending solution incorporates system hardware and software, wireless connectivity, transaction and alarm reporting capabilities, and integration with payment processors and financial institutions.
The AprivaPay mobile application enables mobile merchants to accept card-based payments through smartphones, tablets and browser-based phones and supports optional readers and printers.
Coppinger reported that more merchant acquirers are inquiring about the Apriva Wallet mobile commerce platform, which allows merchants to offer loyalty programs, conduct mobile advertising campaigns and leverage social media and location-based promotions.
Apriva's first quarter momentum builds upon a record $7 billion in wireless payments transactions processed in 2011. | SEE STORY
