CHICAGO -- The 2010 Sweets & Snacks Expo, formerly All Candy Expo, boasted the highest registration numbers in the show's 14-year history, organizers reported. The three-day event held last month at Chicago's McCormick Place West drew more than 5,000 confectionery and snack professionals, marking a double-digit increase over 2009 show numbers.
Sponsored by the National Confectioners Association, the show's exhibit space was sold out, with 486 exhibitors from the U.S. and around the world showcasing the latest in confectionery and snack products. There were 130 first-time exhibitors, up 8% from 2009.
"Our decision to change the show name [from All Candy Expo] absolutely resonated with our surge in both snack exhibitors and attendees this year," commented NCA president Larry Graham. "Close to 15,000, overall verified show attendance grew 7%, proving that the confectionery and snack industry continues to flourish even in challenging economic times."
Next year's Sweets & Snacks Expo will return to Chicago's McCormick Place, from May 24 through 26.
