New York State Automatic Vending Association, vending machine operator, vending machine business
BRONX, NY -- The New York State Automatic Vending Association is asking industry members to turn out in full force for its annual golf outing and dinner. The event, taking place at the Pelham Split Rock Golf Course in the Bronx on Sept. 1, is the association's biggest annual fundraiser to benefit its PAC fund.
Golfers will gather for lunch at 11:30 a.m. before hitting the greens, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. A dinner reception will follow at 6 p.m.
NYSAVA relied heavily upon its PAC fund this year to lobby against two proposed tax measures that would have had a devastating impact on the industry. Its efforts were rewarded with New York's recent passage of its state budget, without the penny-per-ounce non-diet soda tax proposed by Gov. David Paterson. New York operators also escaped a repeal of the current tax exemption for food and beverage items sold in vending machines for 75¢ or less following the association's vocal opposition of the measure before lawmakers.
Register for the golf tournament at nysava.org. The fee is $150 a person, or $60 for dinner only. Accommodations are available close to the course at the Radisson Hotel, New Rochelle, at a rate of $119 a night; call (914) 576-3700 and mention group code 1009NYSVEN.
