MECHANICSVILLE, VA -- QubicaAMF Worldwide has announced the appointment of Betson Enterprises (Carlstadt, NJ) as a distributor for its Highway 66 game in the continental United States. Highway 66 is an automated modular miniature 10-pin bowling alley that can award redemption tickets and interface with many debit-card and other cashless payment systems used by the amusement industry.
Betson joins the roster of well-recognized manufacturer representatives and distributors who are establishing Highway 66 as the nation’s premier miniature bowling product. It offers a casual recreational option in a wide range of entertainment venues that cannot dedicate sufficient space to a traditional bowling alley installation.
A select group of Betson representatives recently completed training and orientation at QubicaAMF’s facilities in Virginia. Betson’s amusement and redemption specialist, Scott Gilmore, observed that all are excited about adding the Highway 66 product to location-based entertainment proposals.
Suitable for of all ages, Highway 66 may be played without special bowling shoes. The balls it uses are smaller than the traditional ones, and have no finger holes. A two-lane unit can accommodate as many as 10 players at once. The scoring system is fully automatic and runs software supporting not only classic 10-pin-based games but also alternative bowling options to offer patrons a range of choices.
QubicaAMF Worldwide was created four years ago when Italy’s Qubica Worldwide formed a joint venture with the products division of AMF Bowling Centers Inc. It offers a range of products for bowling centers, including automatic pinspotters, high performance lanes, ball returns and furniture, as well as Highway 66. Its latest bowling center accessory is a ticket dispenser that can be mounted between two traditional 10-pin lanes, in front of the ball return, for easy access by bowlers on both lanes.
The company presently has an installed base of some 1,000 Highway 66 lanes in nearly 350 locations throughout the United States. Recent installations have included the world’s largest McDonald’s in Orlando, FL, and the MSC cruise ship Splendida. It’s online at qubicaamf.com.
