LOUISVILLE, CO -- Kiosk Information Systems Inc. has announced an agreement with Mix & Burn LLC (St. Paul, MN) under which KIS will offer patrons access to a content library for direct-to-device download. According to KIS, the track library contains 3 million digital rights management-free MP3 tracks from all the major labels, including EMI Music, Sony Music Entertainment (Sony BMG), Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, as well as the largest independent record label aggregators including CD Baby, IODA and The Orchard.
Mix & Burn powers the download services offered through Digital f.y.e. Music Store. Patrons of KIS's "multifunction cafe" kiosks can make the entire transaction, from browsing and selection to payment and downloading to the appliance of their choice: Apple iPod products and other MP3 players, as well as USB memory devices. As the transaction is completed, the label and artist are compensated for the use of the content. The music purchased may be played immediately, and it transfers readily to the user's home computer library.
Music is the latest feature to be added to KIS's multifunction cafes. These versatile self-service terminals, incorporating technology developed by KIS's ZOOX Stations subsidiary, now can offer users a menu of services including not only music downloads but also photo printing, access to email and the Internet, office software applications and casual-user gaming.
