NEW YORK CITY -- TouchTunes has announced that its enhanced myTouchTunes mobile Android application is now available for download from V Cast, Verizon Wireless's mobile storefront.

MyTouchTunes allows patrons of TouchTunes locations to browse or search for music, maintain and access personal playlists, select songs remotely, automatically post their plays to popular social networks, and more. It originally was launched as an app for Apple's iPhone.  | SEE STORY

TouchTunes had announced the forthcoming Android version in conjunction with its announcement that the company has formed a strategic relationship with Verizon Wireless under which, among other things, TouchTunes digital downloading jukeboxes and televisions are to be equipped to work over Verizon Wireless's brand-new 4G LTE broadband network. The availability of the MyTouchTunes Android app coincides with the debut of 4G LTE access across the TouchTunes network. | SEE PRESS RELEASE

According to TouchTunes, Verizon Wireless's 4G LTE can support a stronger, faster broadband connection that enables a portfolio of new applications and entertainment services across various TouchTunes platforms to further engage consumers. And Verizon Wireless will market its services across the TouchTunes network of 45,000 digital jukeboxes and 3,500 TouchTunesTV receivers, thus reaching what a 2010 Nielsen 4th Screen Audience Report identified as the largest digital out-of-home audience in the U.S.

"Our new partnership with Verizon will allow us to bring the TouchTunes experience to new heights for consumers," said TouchTunes chief executive Charles Goldstuck. "We will have unprecedented access to Verizon's high-speed mobile network, creating a seamless experience for users and operators."

Verizon Wireless executive marketing director Bobby Morrison added that TouchTunes entertainment application of 4G LTE is "a great way to leverage this new technology and show the power of the network."

Building on the success of its initial MyTouchTunes iPhone application, the new Android app permits users to search the TouchTunes music catalogue and remotely play songs on jukeboxes. According to TouchTunes, the new Android app is the first of its kind anywhere in the world. It can be downloaded from Verizon Wireless at the V Cast storefront or from the Verizon Channel on the Android Market.
