BERLIN, Germany -- The German amusement and vending equipment association VDAI (Verband der Deutschen Automatenindustrie) will resume production of its IMA trade show next year, according to IMA director Petra Lassahn. It's set for the Düsseldorf fairgrounds from Jan. 14 through 17, 2014.
In June of last year, VDAI canceled the 2013 IMA because, in its judgment, the confusion brought about by the German states' gaming regulations, the federal government's own rules and legal challenges at both levels had made it problematic for anyone to purchase many popular kinds of amusement equipment. | SEE STORY
The 2014 IMA hopes to recapture the momentum of the 2012 show; IMA had been on a steady upswing since its 2007 relocation from Nürnberg to Düsseldorf in populous North Rhine-Westphalia, with its high density of amusement and vending companies. Planners anticipate about 150 exhibitors and a total registration of approximately 9,000 industry members at the 2014 staging.
A wide range of amusement equipment with cash prize options and the entire spectrum of electronic entertainment and sport gaming machines, cash management systems, equipment furnishing concepts for state-of-the-art gaming arcades and bowling centers, as well as business services for their operators, will be on display at next year's show.
As in 2012, several special areas will assist showgoers in finding the exhibits of greatest interest to them. Bowling World will showcase manufacturers and distributors of bowling rinks and bowling accessories, and Coffee World will spotlight coffee products, vending machines and accessories, which are increasingly important in entertainment venues. Sports betting and Internet "iGaming" also will have their own section.
IMA, which dates back to an inaugural trade show conducted in 1978, is organized by Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH. Information on the event, as well as travel suggestions, may be found online at ima-messe.com.
