National Pinball Museum

WASHINGTON -- The National Pinball Museum, where 200 classic flipper games occupy a third-story space in a trendy upscale shopping plaza here in the Georgetown neighborhood, will close in mid-July, five months before the museum's lease expires.

The museum opened seven months ago and has on exhibit some of the 800-plus pinball games collected over 30 years by curator David Silverman.

Silverman received a letter from the landlord, Vornado Realty Trust, informing him that he must vacate his store in The Shops at Georgetown under a 60-day-notice clause in his lease.

Vornado declined to explain its reason for evicting the museum, but Silverman said mall renovations are planned.

Silverman said he is seeking a new space for the pinball museum.
